Growth and Development

Homewood at Martinsburg is always evaluating our ability to meet the needs of our current and future residents.  Our campus has grown from a 67-bed nursing home to a continuing care retirement community serving over 350 residents in many levels of care.  Over the years, we have undergone several renovations and expansions.  Our most recent changes include the following projects.

The Bice Memorial Chapel and Givler Cultural Center

The Bice Memorial Chapel and Givler Cultural Center is an 8,000 square foot building designed to serve our residents in numerous ways.  It is Homewood's Chapel where worship services are held each week by our pastor and by visiting clergy.  With a state-of-the-art sound system and a full stage, it can be used for a multitude of different productions.  The building can seat up to 300 comfortably and can be used for larger dinners and events for our residents.  The Cultural Center can also be divided creating the Ernie Angell Conference Room, an ideal location for meetings and smaller presentations and gatherings.  This addition has enhanced the lives of Homewood residents and opened the door for a larger variety of activities and events to be held on our campus.

The Olive Branch

The Olive Branch utilizes the space formerly used as Homewood's chapel.  The total space is 4,700 square feet and includes the kitchen, the dining room and the living room area. The living room has tables, chairs, bookshelves and is used as a gathering space and as a place for activities for Homewood's assisted lifestyle residents.  There are big screen TVs and a gas fireplace which make this wonderful space feel like home.  In addition to the assisted lifestyle menu offered daily at the Olive Branch, Homewood has an "always offered" menu that independent living residents and Tenley Rehab guests and families are taking advantage of.

The “Olive Branch is a symbol of peace and good will and now it is a place to bring together residents, families and visitors from all areas of our campus to enjoy the comforts of home. From sharing a home cooked meal to playing a game of cards with friends, everyone feels welcomed at The Olive Branch.

Upcoming Renovations and Expansions

We continue to renovate cottages and apartments as they become vacant and there are several other renovation and expansion projects planned for the near future and as part of our long-range planning.  More information about them will be added soon!
